Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz - was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents, Winona Ryder's parents, chose her name after her hometown. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's parents have both been Jewish. Ryder believes herself to be Jewish. She has two younger half-siblings, Jubal and Sunyata. At the age of seven, Ryder was seven, her family relocated from Mendocino County, California. Mendocino County California. In 1983 when she was 12 Ryder was accepted into the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. In 1986 she was offered her first major-screen appearance in the film Lucas she was only 15 years old. Ryder was bullied in high school. Ryder hoped her career as an actress would help. It didn't turn out. The actress continued to chase her ambitions. Her biggest break was in 1988 when she appeared in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was a star in various films. In 1993 she received two nominations for Academy Awards. One of them for her role in The Age of Innocence.
